Artist Story
My art is photography and videography. I like to capture the outdoors. My videos are for sharing outdoor trips – places I go and people I see. I can share the NWT experiences with other people through my eyes.
My dad is very traditional so every fall growing up, we would go out in the bush to a camp we have. We would hunt and trap and fish. In the bush is where I learned from my dad. I still had to do the homework the teacher gave me though! Now, I usually go camping and hiking, moose and beaver hunting, or explore the land on my ATV. I also go boating and do a lot of stuff on river with my jet boat as well.
I got a video camera for Christmas and that is when I started recording. I videotape everything. I love going out and doing all the activities, capturing the footage. But, I also like to edit it together in a creative way and share it for education or entertainment purposes. I think the younger generation learns quicker and becomes interested through video and audio products. It is also a good way to share traditional knowledge. I hope people enjoy it and can take something away from it.
