Artist Bio:

beauty / simplicity / utility

Rooted in the tradition of women's arts, I was taught my first stitches by my mother. I am inspired by the natural world and historic handcrafts. I merge elements, techniques and materials to create pieces that that combine beauty, simplicity and utility and respect historic craft and tradition.

Working by hand, I am connected to each piece I create and strive to continually explore, learn and grow as an artisan.

My work has been exhibited at the Manitoba Craft Museum and Library,  the Textile Museum of Canada’s online exhibit, “Narrative Threads” (http://www.narrativethreads.ca/explorer-explore/pelotte_a_epingles_de_st...), and Yellowknife’s Down to Earth Gallery.  I have been a participating artist and demonstrator at Inuvik’s Great Northern Arts Festival and Fort Simpson’s Open Sky Festival. Currently I can be found once a month at the Yellowknife Farmers' Market.
