Artist Bio:

I grew up living in Fort Providence.  I learned to sew from Culture class in school in Fort Providence.  They had a little trailer next to the school  dedicated to our traditions and culture. As kids we would be so happy to have a whole afternoon knowing we were going to be in culture class. Margaret Vandell and the Late Anastasia Nadli taught me how to sew and learn to live in a good way in that program.  It was very hard to bead and to draw for me at that time.  We made quilts, mittens, sewed uppers (i tried) and made purses.  I leaned how to flat bead, loom bead and embroider.  As I grew older they taught me to make slippers and made my first pair when I was 19 years old.  I am forever grateful for that time in my life to learn such things.
