The 2016 edition of the Canadian Folk Music Awards weekend
happens in Toronto on December 2 and 3, 2016.

Submissions are now open for the 12th edition of the Canadian Folk Music Awards (CFMA). Canadian artists and groups whose albums were released in Canada between June 15, 2015 to June 14, 2016

Dear YK ARCC members and friends,

Please take notice that the Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday May 1st 2016, at 3PM, at the studio located on 3-3541 Macdonald Drive, in Yelllowknife's Old Town.

At this occasion, the ARCC will present the financial statements for the year 2015-2016 and we will proceed with the election of the board of directors. The AGM is also an occasion for YK ARCC's membership to reflect on last year's accomplishments and to lay the ground for the year starting up.

Open Sky Creative Society announces dates for 2016 Open Sky Festival

 

Open Sky is pleased to announce that the 16th annual Open Sky Festival will be taking place in Fort Simpson, NT on July 2-3, 2016. TD MICHAËLLE JEAN BURSARIES
The Michaëlle Jean Foundation is proud to kick-off its fourth call for applications for the TD Michaëlle Jean Bursaries. Launched in 2013 by the Michaëlle Jean Foundation and TD Bank Group, the program offers up to $10,000 to a new generation of leaders seeking mentorship and training on how to use

The NACC Mentorship Series starts this week!

The NLMCC in partnership with High TEA is putting together a community art exhibit to be shown through the month of May (exact exhibition date has not been chosen yet).  All genres of art are welcome in the show, but there is a request that any submissions have not been shown publicly before in another art exhibit/show.

Genre examples include: jewellery, pottery, quilting, acrylic, water colour, fabric free form, embroidery, knitting, wood work, metalwork, stained glass, tufting, fish scale art, photography, etc. All artistic creations are welcome in this exhibit.

Kiri's Piano on Community TV

 

Northwestel Community TV is very pleased to present Yellowknife director France Benoit's film "Kiri's Piano" (2014) this week on YK Ch 709. Based on a James Kellaghan song of the same title, the film is set on the BC coast during the early years of WW2, but was shot entirely in Yellowknife.

Open Sky Creative Society: Call for Workshop facilitation proposals

The Open Sky Creative Society in Fort Simpson, NT is seeking proposals from artists, craftspeople, performers, musicians and other creative types who are interested in facilitating a workshop on their specialty.

Open Sky’s 2016-17 workshop series will run from April 2016 to March 2017 with the majority of the workshops taking place in the fall and winter.
