The Aurora Arts Society (AAS) was established in 1999 under the NWT’s Society Act with the objectives of promoting and supporting arts, culture and heritage in the City of Yellowknife and the North as an umbrella organization in Yellowknife. These objectives were made for the benefit of all and with the recognition of the important roles that arts, culture and heritage play in the lives of individuals at all stages of their lives.

Vision

The Society holds a vision of a community where Visual Arts are an integral part of everyday life and where people are able to learn and express creativity in ways that build a healthy and viable community.

Mission

The Aurora Arts Society provides opportunities for visual artists to exhibit their work, develop their skills and to share and participate with other arts organizations and the public in Yellowknife and the surrounding area to build and maintain a vibrant visual arts community.
